The research is clear that parent involvement in education is connected to higher rates of school attendance, graduation, and pursuit of higher education. In addition, parents who are connected to what is happening at school are better equipped to advocate for their child’s needs.  According to Anne Henderson and Nancy Berla, editors of A New Generation of Evidence: The Family Is Critical to Student Achievement, “When parents are involved in their children’s education at home, they do better in school. And when parents are involved in school, children go farther in school and the schools they go to are better.”
