Mission

OUR MISSION

The Crossett Brook Middle School (CBMS) Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a group of parents, caregivers, teachers and staff whose mission is to enrich the lives of the CBMS student, enhance the educational process, build community, and support an open network of communication between the school and community. We believe that both family and community involvement with CBMS is critical to the educational success of each student.

The CBMS PTO focuses on:

  • Organizing social events to support CBMS community building

  • Fundraising for CBMS team field trips and educational activites

  • Providing for discretionary grants to support teachers as they enhance the educational process

  • Hosting special events and educational enrichment such as                   staff/teacher appreciation week and parent education workshops

You Are the "P" in PTO

Join Us

Research consistently shows that when parents and caregivers are actively involved in their student's education, it has a powerful impact on their success in school. Whether you join a monthly PTO meeting, help plan an event, bake treats for Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, or contribute in any other way, every effort helps strengthen our mission. Our PTO board is made up of busy parents who understand the challenges of balancing work, family, and volunteering. That’s why we strive to make getting involved easy, meaningful, rewarding, and fun! Jen McCabe, President

Hi! My name is Jen McCabe. I have lived in Vermont for 16 years and run a business based in Waterbury with my wife Jackie. I am a proud parent of two children: Alexander, a senior at Harwood, and Hazel, a 5th grader at CBMS. I enjoy cooking, singing, supporting our community, and cheering loudly at the kids' sports games. Go Harwood!

I am the mom of three adventurous kids. A freshman at Harwood, a 6th grader at  CBMS and a little one at home so I'll be dedicated to the PTO for years to come. I love reading, party planning, crafting and family Halloween costumes. I look forward to bringing my creativity and organization to the PTO for the third year.

5/6 Fun Nights

We appreciate your support of our important work. Make your tax-deductible donation today!

Donate with PayPal

We help organize and support Fun Nights for our 5th and 6th graders—an evening filled with music, dancing, open gym activities, and plenty of snacks! These events are always a hit with students, but they wouldn’t be possible without our amazing parent volunteers who provide snacks and serve as chaperones. If you’d like to help at the next Fun Night, keep an eye out for our email announcement—when the links below are active, you’ll be able to register to volunteer and sign your child up to attend. There is a suggested $5 donation to attend.

Parent Education Workshops

Each year, we try to coordinate an informative workshop for parents and caregivers focused on understanding, guiding, and supporting middle school students.

The PTO is creating opportunities for families and the community to come together in support of every CBMS student’s success.
